In order to help the countless human companions of cats with the anxiety and sheer panic caused by IT - dare I say it? - cat-tastrophes - here are the four most common cat-related IT mishaps and their simple solutions. (Just a thought: This could be how cats will execute their world domination plan.) That’s a lot of potential for cat-related IT mishaps. According to the most recent pet owner’s survey of the American Pet Products Association, 47.1 million households in the United States have at least one cat. There are IT support forums all over the internet tackling requests like mine. “Cat walked on my laptop - now a sideways screen.”.“My cat sat on the keyboard and now everything on my screen is GIANT.”.“Cat ran over keyboard and my screen has turned black and white.”. ![]() I was relieved at how quickly and simply my IT problem was solved, but what struck me most was that I wasn’t alone.Īpparently, many, many people have gone online in search of IT help when their cats have put them in technology crisis mode, because I found a ton of similar hits, some of which read like this: On my smartphone, I typed in “cat sat on keyboard now screen is black” and found a solution to my problem (see below). I tried jiggling my mouse, hit the space bar, frantically pounded on the ESC key. I didn’t get a panicky feeling in my chest until after I’d removed her from the laptop and couldn’t get my screen back. She was hungry and, deadline be damned, wanted to be fed NOW. The Possible FIX: So I went into the Roccat Swarm Software/Program to the "Key Assignment" Tab (its the second tab up the top, next to "General Features") in my case I went to the panel on the Left & selected "System & OS" which is where I only just found you can drag & drop features to any key you want & I wanted to test this feature so I dragged "Task Manager" & dropped it onto the "F2" key, I then pressed F2 & saw it worked & the Task manager came up, that was great I thought, I then when to look for a game video on Youtube & when typing in the searchbar I noticed that my "N" key was now WORKING again!! YAY! I have tried so many supposed fixes from other forums & for other types of Keyboards & none worked, the ONLY thing I did different since my N key wasnt working to now when it is working was making that custom Function in the "Key Assignment" section, I dont know if it is specifically putting the Task Manager to the F2 key or if the fix works when making Any custom Key Assignment, but if someone can PLEASE try this exact method & post back here if it worked or not it would be fantastic & you could be helping hundreds of other poor gamers in the same situation & saving their keyboards! I really, really hope this works for everyone else! Also not sure if it will be a permanent fix or if I will have to re-do this method again soon if another key stops working but I have a feeling I will have to either add a different Function to a different key or swap this Task Manager function with a different F key (like F3 for example) to make whatever it was register again & fix the issue. As I worked on my laptop, my cat leaped up and placed her furry black butt on my keyboard. (I put the FIX right at the end of this message as well if u want to skip right to it) Hey all, so I bought my ROCCAT Swarm ISKU+ Keyboard because it was one of the cheapest at EB Games (In Australia) & it was not only the cheapest but also had the programmable Macro keys, but after Only 2 months first I could not type the "$" symbol (u know, by pressing Shift+4) Then a week later my "N" key also stopped working! (I could only write messages/comments by spell checking & correcting EVERY word that had the "N" key in it) But, I just managed to magically & finally fix it!!
